Three miners die in Orakzai coalmine blast
At least three labourers died and two other sustained serious injuries in a coalmine blast in lower tehsil of Orakzai Agency on Tuesday. It was around 7:00am, labourers were busy in mining when suddenly explosion occurred at well No-5 run by contractor Ameer Hamza at Doli locality of the agency. Rescue teams and ambulances rushed to the site and recovered the dead bodies and injured miners. Coalmine operation officer while confirming the incident said that at least three labourers identified as Badshah Zada son of Mateen, Ihrarullah son of Waheed Gul and Sajjad Khan son of Gul Saif killed on the spot. All the three ill-fated miners belonged to district Shangla of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While the two injured were locals whose names were not ascertained till filing of this report. Sources told the blast was caused by methane gas at the well No-5 owned by Al-Hussaini Company in Doli area of Orakzai Agency. The dead bodies were dispatched to the native district of the deceased while the political administration of the agency has directed tehsildar of the area to probe the incident. Some 120 mines labourers have so far been perished in similar explosions only in Orakzai Agency but the political administration did not take any action against the contractors and owners of these mines.
