Coalmine blast in Kurram kills 2 (Pakistan)

HANGU: Two coalminers were killed and two others sustained injuries in an explosion caused by accumulation of gas inside the mine in the Dand area in central part of the Kurram Agency on Tuesday, tribal sources said.

They said the explosion occurred in a coalmine owned by one Sher Khan and operated by contractor Gul Ahmad.Talking to reporters, Mines and Minerals Department Assistant Director Roshan Khan Khattak said the blast was caused by the accumulation of gas inside the mine.

He said ambulances carrying rescuers rushed to the spot after learning about the explosion.The injured were identified as Usman Zada, Mir Zaman, Inamullah and Sarwar.He added two of the wounded persons, Mir Zaman and Inamullah succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the hospital.
