3 labourers die in Quetta coalmine blast (Pakistan)

QUETTA: Three miners were killed due to toxic gas leak in a coalmine in Marwar area on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

Officials said the victims were identified as Shahjehan, Bhar Alam and Muhammad Tareen, who were working with a private coalmine company, while another labourer, Muhammad Shoaib, sustained wounds.

According to details, the incident took place in Jinnah coalmine in Marwar mining area, some 80 kilometres north of Quetta, where the landmine caved in after an explosion due to filling of gas. Rescue teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident. They recovered the bodies from the coalmine and shifted them to the Quetta Civil Hospital. Later, the bodies were handed over to their relatives for burial. They belonged to the Swat valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
