Coal miner killed in an eastern Kentucky accident
A man reported to be in his 20s died Monday night when he became pinned between a piece of machinery and a steel beam, according to WYMT-TV in Hazard which quoted an official of the Martin County Coroner’s Office.
The death occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at Martin County Coal Company’s Voyager No. 7 mine in Pilgrim.
Authorities say the miner who died was from Magoffin County. His name wasn’t immediately released.
The death is at least the third mining fatality in Kentucky this year.
David Partin of Pineville died in an accident at a Harlan County mine in June. In March, Robert L. Cook of Inez died at mine in Martin County.
