2 killed in Darra coalmine explosion (Pakistan)
KOHAT: Two workers were killed and four others sustained injuries in a coalmine explosion in Zarghunkhel village of Darra Adamkhel on Sunday, official and local sources said.
The sources said the labourers were busy in work when the explosion occurred. The local rushed to the scene and retrieved the bodies of two labourers and rescued the injured after hours of hectic efforts.
The dead were identified as Muhammad Yaqoob and Muhammad Hussain belonging to Shangla district. Among the injured only one labourer, Javed, was identified while identity of other three couldn’t be confirmed. The injured were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar where the condition of some of them was stated to be serious. The bodies were shifted to their hometown for burial.
Our Nowshera correspondent adds: Gunmen shot dead a man and injured his brother over a family dispute in Kheshgi Payan area on Saturday night, police said.
Tariq Khan told the police that he along with his brother Tilla Muhammad was on way home after settling a family dispute in a jirga at night when Faizan and Hidayat opened fire on them. His brother was killed on the spot while he sustained injuries, he added.
Meanwhile, police arrested five robbers in a raid in Akbarpura village on Sunday, sources said.
Shahid Mehmood told the police that he along with his friends was on way home in car (GLT-2477) when five gunmen intercepted them near Camp Koroona. The robbers tried to snatch the car and valuables but they resisted the bid, forcing the robbers to flee.
He said one of his friends was injured in the scuffle with the robbers. Following the incident, the police rushed to the scene and raided the house of one Kamran in Akbarpura village and arrested him. The accused led the police to his other accomplices including Tahir, Inamullah, Wajid and Malik Taj. Police also seized arms from them.
