Spike to offer 3 previews of ‘Coal’ reality show
Spike TV and a group supporting families of the victims of last year’s Upper Big Branch mine disaster have scheduled three preview screenings of a new reality TV series about coal mining.
“Coal,” filmed at Cobalt Coal Corp.’s Westchester mine in McDowell County, is set to premiere March 30 at 10 p.m.
The network is partnering with remembertheminers.org to offer screenings March 22 at the East Kentucky Expo Center in Pikeville, Ky., March 23 at Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown and March 24 at Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.
RememberTheMiners.org was started by West Virginia University student Jason Parsons and basketball coach Bob Huggins after the explosion that killed 29 men at Massey Energy Co.’s southern West Virginia mine on April 5, 2010.
Spike TV is part of MTV Networks Group, a unit of Viacom Inc.
