Improvised bomb kills 3 in Masbate
MANILA, Philippines – Three people died were killed after an improvised explosive device went off in Masbate province over the weekend, the military reported Monday.
9th Infantry Division spokesman Maj. Harold Cabunoc said the bomb was fabricated for the purpose of gold panning.
Cabunoc said the explosion was caused by a small-scale miner who accidentally ignited the improvised bomb at his house at Panique village in Aroroy town around 3 p.m. last Saturday. “Police and Army investigators who rushed to the scene said that the trio were fabricating the explosive for their illegal gold panning activity,” he said.
