Two miners died following a rockfall (Zambia)

Two miners died and another is struggling for his life following a rockfall at First Quantum Glencore Ag International jointly owned Mufulira Copper mine on the copper mining region in Zambia.

Dr Martin Malama police chief of Copperbelt said that Mr Bright Mfula and Mr Ernest Nkonde died underground due to a rock crash while another miner, Mr Alinoti Sandwapo was admitted to the hospital with serious injuries after an accident underground on October 4.

The accident happened around 15:30 hour and the deceased miners were crushed to death by what preliminary investigations indicated could have been a rockfall.

Dr Malama said that about 15:30 hours we lost two miners underground who died due to a rock crash the third person is still admitted to Malcom Moffat hospital it’s very unfortunate that the nation continues to lose people with families due to accidents, it is really sad but as police we are still waiting for a full report from the mining company.
