4 dead in SW China coal mine collapse

Four people have been confirmed dead in a Wednesday coal mine collapse in southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality after their bodies were retrieved Thursday morning, local authorities said.

Five miners were working underground when a shaft of Xiaowan Coal Mine collapsed at around 1 p.m. Wednesday in Zhonggang Township, Wuxi County. One miner managed to escape, according to a statement from the county publicity department.

Further investigation is underway.
