Miner killed in Siberian shaft collapse
MOSCOW, Jan. 23 (UPI) — A cave-in Saturday at Russia’s largest coal mine killed one worker, authorities in West Siberia said. Rescuers evacuated 244 other miners after the ceiling collapsed in a shaft at the Raspadskaya mine, ITAR-Tass reported. An investigation was under way to determine what caused the collapse and killed the 31-year-old miner, local authorities told ITAR-Tass.
