Coal truck accident leaves a man dead

A coal truck accident leaves a Pike County man dead. Officials say 52-year-old Stevie Johnson of Virgie was driving his 10-wheel truck loaded with coal on a haul road, when he lost control. Johnson was thrown from the truck. He was taken to Pikeville Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The mine is owned by Premier Elkhorn Coal Company. Officials with the Kentucky Office of Mine Safety and Licensing are investigating the cause of the accident.
