Eight gold miners die in Colombia
Eight miners were killed and 10 others were injured on Tuesday in a cave-in at a gold mine in central Colombia, police have said. The gold mine apparently collapsed because of unstable terrain, and authorities were investigating whether the mine was licensed to operate, the police spokesperson said. All the injured miners, several of whom were in serious condition, have been taken to hospitals in Pereira, the Risarda department capital, he added. The gold mine is located in Tado, on the border between Risarda and Choco departments, in west central Colombia.
