Gas poisoning kills seven in China mine
Seven miners died in a coal mine gas leak in northwest China’s Gansu Province Friday afternoon, work safety authorities said. The poisonous gas leak occurred at around 5:40 p.m. in the Fengyuanshun mine in Baiyin City when 11 miners were working underground, said Liu Tianming, director of the Gansu Coal Mine Safety Administration. Six escaped. The other five and two rescuers — the mine boss and a technician, died. This is the second mine accident in the province over the past two days. Six miners died in a gas accident in Wuwei City early Thursday.
