Miner dies in Wyoming County, WV
PINEVILLE, W.Va. — A state mine office spokeswoman says a miner has been killed in an accident in Wyoming County.
Lesley Fitzwater with the Office of Miners’ Health Safety and Training says the accident occurred about 12:25 p.m. Thursday and involved a conveyer belt at the Jims Branch No. 3A mine.
Other details weren’t immediately available. The victim hasn’t been identified.
A person who answered the phone at mine owner Baylor Mining declined comment.
Federal Mine Safety and Health Administration records show the victim is the first person killed at a U.S. mine this year.
