Miner dies in Knurow-Szczyglowice colliery
A 42-year-old miner has died in the Knurow-Szczyglowice colliery in Silesia, southern Poland. The accident happened at 4.20 CET, 650 meters underground. The miner was loading coal when he was hit by a wagon used to transport coal. The circumstances of the accident are still not clear, however. The miner leaves a wife and two children. Last week, a 46-year-old miner died in Rydultowy-Anna colliery in Silesia after a powerful earth tremor measuring 2.5 of the Richter scale trapped four miners deep underground. The tremor occurred at around 22.30 CET trapping the men around 1,000 metres underground. The miner from Knurow-Szczyglowice is 19th victim of mining in Poland this year.
